Here are some of
the services that we offer at our clinic.
Occupational Therapy Through
specialized techniques such as sensory integration, neurodevelopmental treatment, fine motor training, feeding, strengthening,
visual perceptual training, adaptive equipment, splinting and home programming, children learn to function at the highest
possible level of independence at home, school and in the community. Your child may benefit from an OT evaluation
if they have any of the following:
- Experience difficulty with the performance of self-care activities including
brushing teeth, buttoning a shirt and tying shoes.
- Have difficulty with fine motor activities such as handwriting or cutting
with scissors.
- Have difficulty with oral motor skills, including sucking, biting, chewing,
and licking.
- Have difficulty initiating or completing tasks such as doing a simple
puzzle or playing on the slide or swing.
- Experience problems in school with visual motor and visual perceptual
activities such as copying from the board and completing assignments accurately.
- Exhibit an aversion to tactile input, including not wanting to participate
in "messy" activities or becoming frustrated when physical contact is given.
- Have difficulty maintaining balance during motor activities, including
climbing stairs, running, jumping or skipping.
- Have difficulty with cognitive tasks such as following instructions, problem
solving and organization.
- Have difficulty in social situations including interacting and playing
appropriately with other children.
Physical Therapy Through
specialized techniques such as neurodevelopment treatment, strengthening, balance, endurance, gait training and coordination
activities, casting and home programming, children can learn to maximize their independence in gross motor skills. Your
child may need a Physical Therapy evaluation if they are experiencing any of the following:
- Not meeting developmental milestones such as rolling, crawling, sitting
up, and walking in a timely manner.
- Diagnosed with a genetic or developmental disorder such as Down Syndrome,
Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Torticollis, or Juvenile Rheumatoid Athritis.
- Having frequent falls and bumping into objects.
- Experiencing difficulty with eye-hand coordination activities such
as throwing, catching, and kicking.
- Have difficulty maintaining balance during motor activities inlcuding
climbing stairs, running, jumping, skipping, and hopping.
Speech Therapy Speech
Language Pathologists use treatment techniques to improve communication skills. Treatment includes receptive and expressive
language development, articulation and phonology development, pragmatics development, fluency, and oral motor development.
SLP's also evaluate and recommend the need for augmentative communication devices. Your child may benefit from a Speech
Therapy evaluation if they have any of the following:
- Have difficulty with pre-language skills, including making eye contact
or facial expressions, gesturing, babbling, or imitating sounds.
- Exhibit weakness or lack of coordination in facial and oral muscles necessary
for speech and feeding by drooling, being unable to manipulate food while eating, or having unclear verbal language.
- Exhibit an aversion to specific textures or flavors of food/drink and
may become frustrated when new foods are introduced.
- Have difficulty chewing, sucking from a straw/bottle, or frequently have
food falling out of the mouth.
- Have difficulty producing understandable sounds, letters, words needed
to communicate with others.
- Exhibit problems with receptive language such as understanding and following
directions or expressive language such as putting words together or naming objects and family members.
- Have difficulty using appropriate behavior and language within social
situations or understanding indirect requests and facial expression from others.
- Have difficulty with thinking skills such as remembering homework assignments,
organization, and problem solving.
- Have difficulty with speech including articulation (clarity of speech)
and stuttering.
Orthotics TLC works closely
with many orthotists in the area that come to our clinic to evaluate and fit your child for their braces. This
makes it easy and convenient for our parents and helps the children to be more comfortable with the fitting process.
Durable Medical Equipment TLC works with many vendors
in the area that can assist with obtaining walkers, crutches, gait trainers, bath equipment and wheelchairs. Vendors
can come to the clinic and meet with you and your therapist or they can come to your home.
